1980: I simultaneously launched my graphic design career and my underground life as the drummer in the punk band Naked Raygun. It was 5 years of textbook page layout, photo assignments, copy fitting, and lots of fast drumming.
1986: I stepped up to Art Director for TELEPHONY magazine, which at the time had the largest circulation of any telecom magazine in the world, and published weekly.
1988: I switched my attention to music production and added digital audio acquisition capabilities to my skill set. The tech was primitive by today's standards but it taught me to make the most from what was available. The gained skills in music writing and audio engineering came in handy when I later connected with the Chicago boutique production studio known as H-GUN Labs. For 10 years, starting in 1994, I composed music and sound design for commercials, TV show promos, and documentaries. One high point was supplying music for a Super Bowl commercial in 2000.
2001: I rekindled my interest in motion pictures and began supplying video production and editing to new clients, who needed video acquisition and post-production from one creative source, i.e. an editor/shooter who could "shoot for the edit."
I officially launched Luxtone Media as a creative content production studio capable of seamlessly integrating visual assets with audio assets. Hence the name "Lux" (light) and "Tone" (sound).
Web design also became an integrated service during this time. Today, I have a growing list of portfolio sites for professionals in the advertising and entertainment industries, as well as several sites for small businesses.
2007-2009: I worked in Los Angeles as editor and sound designer for an independently produced, feature-length documentary. A nine minute segment is available to view on the VIDEO PRODUCTION page.
In addition to maintaining long-term client relationships, I continue to get new referrals from satisfied clients in all areas of creative production.
